A Better Life For You and a Child in Need

Some of our State’s most vulnerable children are in residential treatment centers or at risk of having nowhere to call home.

While these facilities provide essential support, these children may be better served in a home-like setting. Having a parental caregiver can help these vulnerable children achieve emotional and behavioral stability, heal from their trauma, and move toward permanency.

TFI Texas’s Professional Foster Care program equips parents with the necessary tools to provide the care and structure children need in a family home environment. Children can achieve amazing levels of healing when their needs are met by creative, consistent, and committed caregivers.

The Professional Foster Care program at Texas Family Initiative utilizes the skills taught in the Trauma Informed Care model to build a relationship between traumatized children and their foster parents. This trauma-focused method of parenting provides both caregiver and child with an opportunity to bond with one another to promote healing. Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is incorporated as part of the child’s Treatment Plan to further encourage healing and promote a successful foster care placement.

Our Professional Foster Parents receive additional training and support beyond what is typical of traditional foster care. As a Professional Foster Parent, you will make a commitment to be creative and available to the children placed in their home.

Professional foster families are needed in the areas of Lubbock, Amarillo, Abilene, Wichita Falls, Brownwood, Dallas/Fort Worth, Tyler, New Braunfels, and San Antonio. Families living in close proximity to these cities may also qualify for this unique program.
