TFI Celebrates 60 Years of Service at Sip & Safari Event

On Saturday, June 28, 2025, The Family Initiative (TFI) marked a significant milestone—60 years of changing lives and supporting children and families in foster care. The Sip & Safari event, held at the Topeka Zoo, brought together over 260 attendees, including dedicated staff members, valued stakeholders and community supporters. This celebration was not only a moment to reflect on six decades of impact but also a chance to connect, share stories and have fun while advancing TFI’s mission to create brighter futures for children in foster care.

A Day to Remember 

The Sip & Safari event was packed with memorable activities that brought joy to attendees of all ages. Guests had the chance to participate in a silent auction and raffle, which collectively raised more than $15,000 to support TFI’s ongoing mission. One of the highlights of the day was the Journey Through Generations display, showcasing TFI’s rich history, milestones and countless achievements over the years.

Attendees also enjoyed hands-on experiences such as animal encounters, custom caricatures and opportunities to create personalized jewelry and accessories. A special Birthday Box station gave guests the chance to assemble meaningful packages to celebrate the birthdays of children in foster care. The event was filled with warmth, connection and celebration, reflecting the heart of TFI’s mission.
