When I was a pre-teen, I received flyers from Children’s International in the mail. I would read the stories of the children and cry because I couldn’t help. Once I was older and had a job, I sponsored two children through this program, but always thought it would be amazing to have children here with me in my home. That thought never left my mind and sparked my interest in fostering. The experience has brought true meaning to my life. You meet these little people and suddenly nothing else matters but their safety, security and making sure they feel loved.

I have been blessed with eight foster children to date. I started out asking for older children, ages three to ten. Most of my placements have been ages 0 to 3 years. Unfortunately, my children have all suffered from varied effects of parental substance abuse.

I love writing short stories, exploring new places, and going to the movies when I have free time. 😊

When I first started fostering, I wish I could go back and tell myself to not worry so much about the stereotypes and the stigmas around fostering. All that falls away once you meet the children… these little survivors. You quickly become their biggest champion and advocate.
