Texas Foster Family of the Month – May 2025

By May 13, 2025No Comments

The Lammons home is a kinship foster-to-adopt family licensed since March 2024. Since November 2022, Kesley has built a strong, loving bond with the child in her care, advocating for their growth and highlighting their strengths. She adjusts her approach to support their individual needs and has seen positive changes in their development.

Kesley uses the “hands and eyes” redirection method—holding the child’s hands and maintaining eye contact while discussing behavior. They enjoy activities like movies, puzzles, video games and coloring together.

Her advice to other kinship or foster parents includes:

  1. Behaviors are often not personal; children act out as responses to past experiences. Respond with patience and unconditional support.
  2. Stay curious about the child’s perspective and needs—look beyond what’s documented or visible.
  3. Growth is a process; setbacks may happen. Practice gratitude and share progress with the child to strengthen your bond and model resilience.

Thank you, Kesley, for your dedication and for creating a nurturing environment that promotes healing and growth.

We are thankful to have such an inspiring foster family be a part of TFI!
