The Family Initiative (TFI) joyfully celebrated 60 years of transforming the lives of children and families in foster care on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the Topeka Zoo. This event brought together more than 260 passionate staff members, valued stakeholders and cherished community supporters to honor six decades of meaningful work, share heartwarming stories and enjoy a day filled with fun and connection.
Fundraising efforts included a silent auction and raffle. Altogether, the event raised over $15,000 to support TFI’s ongoing mission!
“We are deeply grateful to our committed staff, volunteers and everyone who joined to celebrate 60 years of service,” said Michael Patrick, TFI CEO. “Your support and dedication are the heart of TFI’s success and we look forward to continuing this vital work together for many years to come.”
Attendees had a wonderful time participating in a variety of engaging activities, including a “Journey Through Generations” display that showcased TFI’s rich history, milestones and achievements. Guests also enjoyed animal encounters, caricatures, personalized jewelry/accessories, awards and much more. The event also featured a Birthday Box station, where meaningful packages were created to brighten birthdays for children in foster care.

For six decades, TFI has been a source of hope, stability and support for children and families in foster care, helping to create brighter futures and stronger communities. We are proud to celebrate 60 years of life-changing work and look forward to continuing this vital mission.
