May is recognized as National Foster Care Month
Tulsa, Oklahoma – There are approximately 8,600 children in foster care in Oklahoma. Through no fault of their own, children are placed daily in out of home care. There are many Oklahoma children in need of a temporary, loving place to call home. May is National Foster Care Month and is a great time to highlight the need for more foster parents in local communities. TFI especially needs foster parents willing to accept teenagers and sibling groups into their home.
Fortunately, it is now easier than ever to become a foster parent. With the ability of virtual learning, TFI is offers a one-on-one class to meet each individual’s needs.
One local family, Shaine and Paul Nichols made the decision to open up their heart and home to Oklahoma children in need by becoming a foster parent.
“We started fostering because we wanted to help children, simple as that. It’s so rewarding when the children are able to go home and we know we have helped them along the way” said Shaine Nichols.
