Teacher donates Cuddle Bear books to vulnerable local children

El DORADO, KANSAS – When children are placed in out-of-home custody, they can experience loneliness, isolation and fear. But one local teacher decided to do her part to provide comfort to children in foster care.

Colleen Floyd, a local grade school teacher and Usborne books representative, recently donated more than 41 Cuddle Bear books and bears to TFI to give to children in foster care in Butler County.

“I decided to donate our Usborne Cuddle Bears and Books to TFI because of the impact foster children have had in my life. I have the opportunity to teach them in my kindergarten classroom,” said Colleen Floyd. “When they come into my classroom, they crave love and a place to feel safe. While teaching, I’ve noticed how important items are that belong to only them. I chose to donate to TFI so each child can have a Cuddle Bear and Book to keep as their own and take wherever they may go. I hope this donation can bring these kids comfort and love, knowing someone cares about them.”

Floyd and her team worked with Usborne Books & team to raise funds to purchase the Cuddle Bear Books & Bears to donate to TFI.

“We are so appreciative of Colleen and her generosity,” said Senior Vice President Rachelle Roosevelt. “The kids we serve are removed for their own safety, but they are removed from everything and everyone they know. We know these Cuddle Bears will help bring comfort to these vulnerable kids. We cannot thank Colleen enough for her donation. Community support is vitally important to the success of our organization!”
