TFI awarded adoption grant from DCF
Wichita, KS (December 30, 2022) – The Family Initiative (TFI) is pleased to announce it was awarded an Individualized Adoption Support grant by the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF). The grant was awarded for TFI’s new program, Adoption Stabilization & Prevention (ASAP).
By utilizing the evidence-based practice Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), the ASAP program will provide in-home support to children and families of adoptive parents. The services will include education about the dynamics of adoption, support for mental health treatment, and parenting skills to promote placement stability.
TFI will offer this program in Wichita, KS, and surrounding areas, as well as in DCF Areas 4 & 8, which includes southeast and southcentral Kansas. ASAP will be available to any adoptive family. The program will accept referrals from DCF, the community or self-referrals. The State award is for Jan. 1, 2023, through June 30, 2024.

TFI is dedicated to strengthening Kansas children and families and is a leading child welfare agency in the sunflower state. TFI current provides Case Management services in Areas 4 and 8, serving southeast and south-central Kansas. TFI also serves as the Family Preservation contract serving Western Kansas. Finally, TFI provides prevention and clinical services to Kansas families through our Grow Nurturing Families program.
