Kinship Supervisor recognized for outstanding impact on the community
2INgage is proud to announce that Chanel Sharp was this year’s recipient of the Child Welfare Champion Award, recently announced by the Champion For Children (C4C) organization.
The annual C4C Awards honor individuals helping families and children lead better and safer lives. This recognition celebrates the often-unsung heroes who dedicate their professional lives to assisting communities by caring for vulnerable children. Along with Child Welfare Champion, the three other accolades awarded each year are Community Champion, Frontline Champion, and Heart of the Champion.
Sharp, who serves as a 2INgage Family Finder and Kinship Supervisor, was recognized along with all nominees and award winners at this year’s Champions For Children Luncheon. The award recipients were selected by a panel of past award winners and committee members.
“It’s an incredible honor,” Sharp said. “I am grateful daily to do this work and help families in the Big Country area find permanency.”
Sharp is the CFE liaison for Region 2 and trains new cohorts in Family Finders, Kinship and Home Assessment procedures. She also facilitates CPA staffing with all CPA, Kinship and Permanency workers. Her position requires a lot of data tracking and assessments, and Sharp does a fabulous job of managing multiple responsibilities to ensure the best process possible for families and staff.
Sharp is no stranger to child welfare, as she has spent her entire career working in social services and child welfare. After five years at DFPS working in investigations, she transitioned to 2INgage in June 2020 at the start of Stage 2 with the Community-Based Contract.
Sharp studied at McMurry University, earning a Bachelor of Science in psychology with a minor in criminal justice in 2015. She also obtained two Master of Science Degrees from Southern New Hampshire University, one in Psychology and one in Criminal Justice. Last year, she completed the courses and training to become a Credentialed Child Welfare Supervisor.
“The title of this award is very fitting, as Chanel is a champion of the child welfare system,” 2INgage Director of Permanency Support Stacy Lee said. “This is an immense honor and I’m so grateful to work alongside someone so dedicated to the work. We are so proud to have her on our team.”
