A Heartwarming Story of Kinship & Adoption: The Impact of Dedicated Care

September is National Kinship Care Month

TFI Family Services, Inc. (TFI) is pleased to celebrate Kinship Care Month each September by highlighting the remarkable stories of individuals who exemplify the spirit of kinship care. Kinship Care is recognized as the full-time protection and care for extended family members, including grandparents, close friends, stepparents, and more. It provides a much-needed safety net to communities and is essential to acknowledge and encourage the considerable contributions of kinship caregivers when children cannot remain with their biological parents.

It’s a joy to shine a spotlight on the incredible commitment and compassion shown by families who step up to provide stable, loving homes for children in need.

The inspiring journey of Kayla Vail is a shining example of someone who has made a profound impact on the life of a young lady in need of a permanent home. Kayla’s story shows the essential role of kinship caregivers and the positive outcomes that arise from unwavering support and collaboration within the foster care system.

Kayla recounted how she transitioned from being a kinship resource to pursuing adoption to offer a permanent home to a young lady whose previous placement had not worked out. She expressed deep gratitude for the support and guidance she received from her foster care and case management teams who played a crucial role in advocating for and supporting the young lady throughout her placement.

“Sometimes, I didn’t know if I would be able to do this without foster care and case management’s help and support,” Kayla said, emphasizing the impact the team has had on her family’s journey.

Kayla’s enthusiasm and genuine care underscored the positive outcomes that can result from the collective efforts of dedicated professionals and supportive families.

This story powerfully reminds us why many are passionate about their work in foster care. Amidst the challenges, Kayla’s experience reinforces the value of the work done by agencies like TFI and the profound difference it makes in the lives of children and families.
