May is recognized as National Foster Care Month

Denton, Texas – There are approximately 29,000 children in foster care in Texas. Through no fault of their own, children are placed daily in out of home care. There are many Texas children in need of a temporary, loving place to call home. May is National Foster Care Month and is a great time to highlight the need for more foster parents in local communities. TFI especially needs foster parents willing to accept teenagers and sibling groups into their home.

Fortunately, it is now easier than ever to become a foster parent. With the ability of virtual learning, TFI is offers a one-on-one class to meet each individuals needs.

One local family, Kelly and Joseph Ghormley, made the decision to open up their heart and home to Texas children in need by becoming a foster parent.

“We went into foster care thinking we could offer a safe, loving home and make a positive difference in a child’s life. What we did not realize was what a positive impact they would have on us. We have genuinely fallen in love with the kids placed in our care,” said Kelly Ghormley.
