Join the challenge & get active for kids in foster care

Kansas – On any given day, there are more than 400,000 children in foster care in the United States. Typically they are placed in out of home care at no fault of their own. They are away from friends, family and everything they know. To bring awareness to this important topic, TFI is launching our first-ever Fit for Foster Care Wellness Challenge and Fundraiser.

What is the challenge?

In Fit for Foster Care, TFI is challenging all participants to put this vulnerable population in the forefront of their mind and take 400,000 steps (one for each U.S. child in foster care) over the course of a month. But not only is it a fitness challenge, but it is a fundraiser. All funds donated and/or raised from this challenge will go directly towards purchasing Christmas gifts for children in foster care this December. Holidays can be an especially difficult time for children in foster care. Help us spread them some holiday joy!

How does it work?

Participants sign up for the challenge & then get to stepping! Then TFI is encouraging participants to share the Fit for Foster Care Challenge on their personal social media to spread the news. Participants can encourage others to join the challenge or donate to the cause. All participants have a goal of taking 400,000 steps (one step for each U.S. child in foster care) and a fundraising goal of $200. Participants can link their fitness tracker of choice to Charity Footprints so their activity will automatically be tracked, or they can login and track steps manually. TFI encourages participants to download the Charity Footprints mobile app, available on Google Play and the Apple Store.

Why should someone participate?

It is vitally important to raise awareness about this important topic. Plus, all proceeds will help buy Christmas gifts for kids in foster care this December. Participants will get healthier & vulnerable kids will benefit!

When is the challenge?

Registration: July 11-July 18
